What’s the Point?

There is no point, really.

I just installed World of Warcraft for the first time a week ago — that is, the first week of August, 2009.

I’m writing this blog during some of the hours when I can’t be playing, because it passes the time. Whether it will interest anyone else, I can’t say. Probably not, but stranger things have been known to happen. In any event, it’s the free time hanging heavy on my own hands that I’m worried about. Whether anyone else has so much free time on their hands that they want to read here is their own question.

This will be the chronicles of my various characters as they develop – and also, presumably, of my own development, from painfully new newbie to someone who actually feels comfortable in and with the game to maybe (dare I ever hope?) something of a veteran. But that’s getting a bit far ahead of myself…

I’m not much of one for groups, except in moments of expediency or not being able to come up with a quick reason to say “no”, so most of my adventures will be solo, and they will told with a half-assed attempt to roleplay in the voice of the characters themselves — which might or might not work, especially when they’re new and haven’t yet developed much personality to me, but that is at least the intention in this first hour of the blog’s existence.

Given my propensity to game-hop from time to time, I might eventually be writing about games other than World of Warcraft — but I doubt that will happen for a while. I have been well and truly hooked.
